It's all so quiet...it's all so still...until the cars roll up and the roundabout slowly fills with cheerful faces and happy shouts! Down at the farm, we prepared this morning by setting up the tea and cake stall and decorating the yard with pretty bunting. The traditional apple press and more modern juicer were laid out waiting to be supplied with juicy fresh apples.
Seven families plus our merry lot all scrumped apples in the garden. Climbing up the ladder and throwing down apples. The children enjoyed climbing the apple tree and swinging and sliding around on the play equipment.
As the afternoon progressed, everyone headed over to the farmyard where tea and cakes from the bakery were laid out. After some refreshment we started the apple pressing process. First of all, we cut up the apples and tried our hand at the traditional method - a beautiful wooden contraption from Germany. After much muscle power and energy boosting we decided it was time to get out the electric apple juicer! Needless to say. the rest of the afternoon swiftly went by and in total we came away with 10 bottles of fresh apple juice...
